WHO To Consider Madagascar’s Coronavirus Medicine

Current reports indicate that the World Health Organization (WHO) ‘may’ consider Madagascar’s herbal coronavirus medicine as a possible cure for the deadly disease

Thus, the country has already recovered 149 of Covid-19 confirmed cases with a herbal medicine. Meanwhile, the Madagascan President Andy Rajeolina launched the herbal concoction last month as a remedy for the disease.

Rajoelina, a former DJ who in 2009 at the age of 34 became the continent’s youngest national leader, claimed at the launch that the remedy, named Covid-Organics, had already cured two people – report from Aljazeera. “This herbal tea gives results in seven days,” Rajoelina told the media in April.

Following these claims, the World Health Organization advised people against using untested Covid-19 remedies in a recent press release. And consequently added that, to consider the herbal medicine is to pass it through critical clinical tests before approving it.

“WHO recognizes that traditional, complementary and alternative medicine has many benefits and Africa has a long history of traditional medicine and practitioners that play an important role in providing care to populations. Medicinal plants such as Artemisia annua are being considered as possible treatments for COVID-19 and should be tested for efficacy and adverse side effects.
