Oh My God : First Ever Apple Tree Discovered In Ghana

An apple tree, botanically termed in science as Malus domestica has been discovered in the Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

The apple tree has been tagged as the first ever to appear in our country partly owning to what we know as per the conditions necessary for its germination process is unavailable in this part of our world. Though there has been no confirmation of this report by the Crop Research Institute and Agriculture Ministry as yet. But one Facebook user with the account name, ‘Barima Nana Osei Bonsu‘ shared photos of it and said :

“When I was growing, I was told this tree can only survive outside Ghana but thanks be to God this Apple tree is producing it’s first fruit after five years it was cultivated in WIAMOASE-ASHANTI. GOD is indeed wonderful.”

According to one interviewee, a maximum of five apples could sprout from only one node on the tree. Thus producing so many of its fruits on the branches after five years since its cultivation. Moreover, details of the interview reveal that the cultivator of the crop has passed out some time ago now. But the people he left it in charge with were able to water it day in and day out until it was able to survive.

“We need one favor from authorities that they should help us with pesticides to help keep the tree alive”, the interviewee requested.
