In light of this, one senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology asserted that the physical appearance of the tree comes nowhere near that of an apple tree. Report from the website read :

“Dr Irene Idan confirmed this to Luv FM after a reporter there visited the site of the tree in the Sekyere South District to take a sample.” Thus, the doctor said there should be no excitement about this because it is not so.

Dr Idan further added that, “The leaves don’t resemble that of apples, also the skin of an apple is very smooth but this is rough. When we cut the fruit, its internal formation doesn’t resemble an apple. It’s more of a fig than an apple,” she concluded.

The news was true. But further investigations proved it futile for the expression of it being an “apple tree”. It was a certain species of figs and not specifically an apple tree
