The use of mobile phones in JHS and SHS in Ghana has always been a concern in education. Students have been banned from using mobile phones in schools with the prospect that they may use it for odd reasons.
Though there is a ban on it students sneak mobile phones to school.
In this century of technological advancement, the smartphone is something that its usage could never be undermined. Even in education, it is necessary for research purposes.
Stakeholders in the education sector are considering reviewing the ban on mobile phone usage.
This was disclosed by Ga North Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Esther Jones Safo on Thursday. She said the review would be done to allow students to use mobile phones strictly for academic purposes.
She made this known in an interview with Ghana News Agency after the inauguration and swearing-in of Executive members of the Ga North Municipalities Conference of Heads of Basic Schools( COHBS) at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region.
