Information Minister Uses The Term ‘Papano’ In Parliament

Over the past few days, the local term ‘papano’ has become quite popular as most social media users engage it for fun purposes. We may however not be able to tell the actual origin of the word, but it has gained some weight on the internet. Nevertheless, the use of such a word or term is usually on jovial grounds and not for serious things.

However, incumbent information minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has used this term in the podium of one of Ghana’s arms of governance, the legislative parliament.

The Minister, in making his submission in parliament yesterday used the term to mock members of the minority, the NDC. Subsequently, the video is going viral on social media as some members of the NPP agree with the humor that comes with it whiles the NDC are offended. This is because they think that such a term is disrespectful and derogatory in its normal use, and not to even talk of applying it in parliament.
