Ghanaian Celebs Who Are Likely To Become President


Some celebrities in Ghana have expressed their desire to contest for the presidency in the future. Some have made move towards their ultimate goal while still some are still in the passion. It’s not known who among them will eventually succeed. But in the article, we bring to you 8 Ghanaian celebrities who want to become President of Ghana someday.

1. John Dumelo


In 2016 Ghanaian actor John Dumelo expressed his ambition of becoming the president of Ghana. He said this while addressing his party faithful and some big wigs of his party, the National Democratic Congress at Hohoi when he joined them for Mahama health walk. The actor who is a strong member of the NDC had eventually kick started his political dream. First as a youth leader during his campaign for Mahama in 2016 and now as the parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuguon. It is on history that 4 people named John Evans Atta Mills, John Agyekum Kuffour Jerry John Rawlings, and John Mahama have ruled the country so far and John Dumelo might be the fifth John to rule the country someday.

2. Yvonne Nelson


In 2019, Ghanaian actress and film producer Yvonne Nelson disclosed that she may consider playing an active role and may be considered as being the first female to rule the country. She made this known on Class FM when she was interviewed about her movie “FIX US” which was set for premiere.

3. Shatta Wale


In 2019 popular dancehall musician, Shatta Wale revealed that he harbors plans to stand for Ghana’s presidency. In a video posted online, the self-acclaimed dancehall artist of Africa expressed his interest in becoming the president of Ghana. Shatta Wale was seen addressing his fans while driving past them, “I beg next year I will stand for president so you people should vote for me.” This is however not the first time Shatta Wale has make known his presidential ambitions. He had said that on several occasions. It is not known whether the gringo hit maker is serious is moving into politics or is just making fun.

4. King George

Young Actor King George of famous youth serious “YOLO” revealed his intentions to vie for the presidency after John Dumelo contested for the parliamentary candidate for the NDC. King George disclosed that he is hiring the seat in 2032. Although he is not affiliated to any political party yet but he still has more years ahead of him to make plans for the position come 2032.

5. James Gardner

Still in 2019, Ghanaian actor, voice-over artist, radio and TV presenter revealed that he also has the dream of becoming a president. During 2019 Africa Glitz Award James Gardner took to Instagram and wrote. “Vote for me make I chop president! Last night at the 2019 Glitz Style Awards.” Some industry expects claimed that this move may have been motivated by John Dumelo. Comments shown under his post revealed that he is already getting support from his industry colleagues.

6. Maame Serwaa

Still in 2019, young Ghanaian actress Maame Serwaa announced her ambitions in becoming president someday. She said this is her biggest dream in an interview with Zion Felix. Maame Serwaa said she has a lot of plans but becoming a president will be a dream come true if her other career fails. She said she would serve the country well when elected but she is yet to announce a political party of her choice.

7. Mzbel

Ghanaian Musician and business woman, Belinda Nana Akua Amoah aka Mzbel in 2020 disclosed that if given the opportunity to become president she would change Ghana within a year. Because she is a mother and able to manage her home, she would use the same opportunity to transform her sinking fortune of her country, Ghana. In a Happy FM interview in Accra, the 16 years hit maker revealed that even the way she manages her restaurant efficiently is a testimony to the fact that she can run the country very well. Interestingly she revealed that apart from her, fellow musician Shatta Wale is the only person who can serve the country well.

8. Sarkodie

Still in 2019 Sarkodie spiked a debate which he revealed that he may be interested in vying for Ghana’s presidency in the near future, precisely 2024. This came after his fellow musician Kanye West announced that he is running for the 2020 elections. Sarkodie took to twitter to ask his fans if he should contest for the presidency in 2024. “Presidential candidate 2024 anaa mo se?”
