Frank Acheampong becomes first Ghanaian To Captain Chinese Team

Ghanaian footballer, Frank Acheampong had made Ghana proud with his outstanding performance in Chines top-flight side club, Tianji Teda. Frank Acheampong has in view of his performance he has been made captain of the Super League side, Tianji Teda.

Not only has he been made captain but he is also on the record of being the first Ghanaian to be captain of a top-flight side in China.

The 26 year old Frank Acheampong was made the skipper of the club by the coach of the club, Uli Stielike. He showed extraordinary skills after joining the club in a surprise move from Belgian giants, Anderlecht, in 2017.

Frank Acheampong appreciated this privilege after being appointed captain and also looking forward to lead his side today in the Chinese league. He is hoping to lift his team out of the storm to higher grounds in the Chinese season.

“I’m particularly honored to be made captain of this great club, it has come to a very challenging time where the club is struggling very early in the season, I hope that with a collective effort we can turn around our season”, he said afterward.

The Chinese club Tianjin didn’t start the season well, they made a poor start. After playing four consecutive times in the league, they are without a win, losing three and drawing one. But Frank and his team comrades are determined to turn around the fortunes of the club as they take on Hebei CFFC on Monday.

Winger, Frank Acheampong joined the team on a season-long loan back in 2017 from Anderlecht and made a permanent move to the club in 2018.

Frank Acheampong scored 30 goals in 71 Capps for his club team, Tianjin Teda.
